Time Of Call Was 0300

He took a chance,
and knew it was a bad one,
he turned the corner
and saw the ambulance,
the street was a light show,
time of call was 0300,
and that was a half an hour ago,
he pulled up behind the red glow,
then stared for a moment
at the frenzied paramedics in the rear,
worried looks on their faces,
made it clear,
and that just brought on the fear,
his eyes would twitch,
when he realized it was his paid informant,
his snitch,
he didn’t look so hot,
a clear head shot,
the snitch was writhing on his litter,
moaning,
his legs buckling back and forth,
groaning,
life would linger, but death grows,
his legs would kick for the last time,
outward at the knees,
inward at the toes,
he needed to find
someone else to drop the dime,
the involuntary movement
told the homicide detective to post
the help wanted sign.

Frank, this one was so edgy, so real, so brutal and yet strangely detached from the detective it seemed. I suppose they have to be that way to do their jobs. You sure can get in to a character's head! Bravo.
