It took years
and lots of tears,
but finally he would confess,
his life was a total mess,
in reality,
there was never enough evidence,
and he suffered from police brutality,
by measured steps,
his wife walked him into a crowded courtroom,
where everything went silent,
the judge, the lawyers, the jury,
but he knew everyone
held that bottled fury,
and the emotions were mixed,
as the entire courtroom sat transfixed,
his wife’s life seemed so low,
she suffered and had no where to go,
and in the gallery,
she knew there was going to be a show,
but her husband could not see
a surviving victim,
primly dressed and eight months pregnant,
in the gallery’s front row,
he did not see one of the jurors,
the young black girl
who would care,
crying softly in the back tier,
he did not see the cold rage
on the judge’s face,
who feels he should be locked in a cage,
everything seemed out of place,
there were no sights, but lots of sounds,
and lastly he did not see
the detective who blinded him,
with two .38 rounds,
glaring with strange fascination
from the defense table,
a few feet away,
wondering why that killer
would confess this day.

This wasn't in Florida. the cops use 9mm or more, with a 380 back up. This guy really better not drop the soap. He will never find it.
This is chilling, as many of your crime related poems are. I find the juxtaposition of opposites intriguing. The poetry is so beautiful while the stories contained within hold such real life horror. Frank, you are indeed a complex man and your writing certainly reflects it. I further agree with the TV comment. This would make for a high rating show.
